Expansion and installation of a day bistro at the main station in Frankfurt am Main, 2010

On a floor space of less than 75 square meters with an unusual layout, a day bistro with a fully equipped kitchen, a dining room for around 30 guests, sanitary facilities, a cleaning room and a mini office is to be built. The design is intended to reflect the urban context and become the address for a quick but high-quality lunch.

The result is a bistro interior that uses the entire glass facade. The open kitchen can also be seen from outside. It consists of additively designed solitary counters and work surfaces made of stainless steel, terrazzo, elm wood and powder-coated steel elements. The bar tables and the delicate wire stools designed especially for the project also symbolize the modular, light meals that are suitable for consumption on site or to take away.

The back wall of the kitchen was fitted with a photo wallpaper sealed with a protective varnish, which shows the view from the dining room onto the street of the owners' favourite Flemish bistro.
